David Beckham Shows Dads How to Support Breastfeeding !!

For some reason it's always surprising when we hear about a celebrity breastfeeding. Maybe it's because we assume they all have scheduled c-sections paired with a tummy tuck and plenty of drugs, and nannies to take care of the baby while they sip champagne on the beach. But celebrities are people too! And therefore have the same issues when a newborn is suddenly in the house.

It turns out that Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, is having some breastfeeding challenges due to a slipped disc in her back. Back pain would certainly present a challenge to picking up a baby and holding her in the best possible position for breastfeeding. It's making me think I was whining way too much about my arm falling asleep while nursing.

So the story out of the Spice-Beckham household is that dad, David, actually holds up baby Harper to breastfeed since mom is in too much pain to hold onto that baby. What's gonna work? Teamwork! If only every dad were so involved in breastfeeding.

Yes, that's what I'm saying: David Beckham is a breastfeeding role model. Who knew a jock would be the man to show other dads how it's done? Can you imagine if dads also had to be physically involved with breastfeeding the babies?

Perhaps then it would be seen as something you just do after having a baby, like checking on the umbilical cord site for infection or changing a diaper. And even more importantly, perhaps people would realize how important the dad's role is in the family and paternity leave would follow. Ahhh, a lady can dream.

Either way, bravo to Becks for helping out with the newborn. I'm loving this story, and hope dads everywhere take note.

ps: To all daddy out there, please help to support all breastfeeding mommies in giving the best for their little precious!!

pss: Mr Harith aka Mr Hubby, thank you for your continous supports!!Rasenya tak tertanggung beban tanpa sokongan orang tersayang. Tolong basuh botol, steam botol. Tolong urut belakang, tolong sorong bantal bila nak nursing, picit mane yg patut, banyak2 lagi!! Thank you bie! Lov u s much ;) * lov Mr Beckham too ^-^

I'm Touched!

Salam,
Hari ni dah hari ke-23 Ramadhan, and today also the 2nd day of ISO audit at my company. Yeap, this time audit really make me worried and jantung dupdap dupdap sb auditors keep pointing about calibration. And most of the things under my responsibility. Please janganlah dapat any NCR.* Pray for smooth journey!!

And this morning, masuk office, as usual, belek2 my blog sebelum buat kerja yg melambak2, tak reti nak start mana satu dah! Tiba2, I was stumbled upon one blog ni, very nice and simple entry, but yet ..tiba2 jadik sayu sgt2. Writer of the blog is a 52old mother who talked about life and his son. From 1st entry, I moved to her previous entry and scrolled down to the earliest. I started to feel weird when there were many entries written before and seems like this blog was not belong to her. Sebab I skip2 entry, jadik tak paham..

Then I started to wonder, she has many sons and dotters, but yet why only she kept talking about his son, Afzal. Then, the entry written on Jan 2011 (where the 1st entry Mama Afzal started writing), was after 33days Afzal passed away. Owh lagik sedih..

Gals, I'm writing this to share the blog link. Take ur time to read. Kekadang nak kena muhasabah diri. Many things need to be improve in order to be a better person, better muslimah and yet a better mother and wife!

Finally...Syukur!

Alhamdulillah..After almost 3 years waiting and hoping, me aka mommynadia finally owned something that I called as precious!!

Guess???!!!
Apakah ini!!!
* exclude my twitter fwens!!

.
.
.
.
.
.
.

yeap, its a F.R.E.E.S.T.Y.L.E!!!
A Medela breastpump!!

The decision made after many discussions, congak campur tolak tambah bahagi, me finally decided to get one!! Kalau 3 years back * time tu duk pike PISA or Spectra, with 1st time experience, dont know either my bf experience is a smooth journey or not, me decided to choose a reasonable pump at that moment. After 4mos delivery of Adryan, Alhamdulillah with extra rezeki from Him, tak nak lengah lagik decided to make up my mind, and invest to this gadget. * berbelah bahagi hooo...maklumlah time2 nak raye ni, RM1600 kalau invest beli handbag sebijik, tak ke bergaya mommy pi raya tahun ni!!!;(
To my readers,u guys know how much I waited for this moment right!!!Syukur...

Tanpa lengah, I googled online store at the best offer. At first decided to buy through ebay from my besties, but to avoid all those hancky pancky warranty and adapter thingy, me decided to just buy it online. And I choosed http://amihoney.blogspot.com/ aka Wan Ami Zain! Alhamdulillah. With linked from Miszy Anne, senang berurusan dgn Ami. * and plus she also my super jr at MRSMPC too..what a small world!! Great offer, many free goodies, I loike!!!Thanks Ami!!

Huih dpt2 tanpa lengah, ommak charge and basuh semua parts!!Tak sabar katanye!!

The day I received the parcel, mmg over excited, tapi tengokkan banyak betul small parts, naik pening jgak. Lucky I pernah pakai this pump at Medela Servcice Centre before, with guideline provided, I managed to use it and still in the stage nak jadik FS pro!!;)

For those who followed me thru twitter, mesti dah selalu tgk Nadia twit about fs! Just to share here, Alhamdulillah, my 1st expressing was after 12 hours charged the battery. It was sahur on Thurs last week, I managed to pump 5oz after Ryan breastfed. And the 1st trial at office, I managed to express around 10 oz milk. Next day, I managed to get 2 bottles full just in 7.33 min! And continued to collect total for 18oz of total session. That was the best score at this moment. To get that full bottles is not the new thing for me * huih, sila abaikan ayat belagak tak ingat!! But to have it in 7 min, really a big WOW to me!!* Thats my jakun words!! It was like to change from Mr Hubby Caldina to the high performance car like hmmm...another Lotus series maybe!!!wahahahaha * Hubby jgn marah!! Yeap, but its true. With my Spectra3 and MiniE, I still managed to have full bottles, but the time consumed and comfortableness to consider, this new gadget is more than what I expected!! Love it!!Even skrang odw balik Banting pun boleh dpt 5oz in 6 min, Alhamdulillah!!

10 oz milk on 1st day pump at office!

I'm still in the stage to be an expert in using their hands-free thingy too ;(. InsyaAllah, as I have few blogger friends who also seangkatan dengan I tgh exploring the fs, will try to update on how to handle this fs too * hi 5 to Nadine and Anne too. I just read about, those sensitive parts kalau ada tear, or even scratch, these things really can minimize the pump suction!!owh shud take those handling into considerations too. But the contra is banyak sgt part nak kena basuh.Adehhh!!!

Owh  ya, I also received comments and email from friends on how to sustain the milk production during Ramadhan. So far, me too having the difficulties during this time. Tho I know, many took milk booster like energy drink or watsoever, my really milk booster is rice aka nasi!! Sometimes I lose appetite during sahur and yet just took slices of bread and soy milk, it really affected my milk production. But yet, Alhamdulillah, so far, Ryan consumption at nursery still equal to what I produced at office, which around 15-18 oz. But sometimes, there still negativity when I suka2 used the ebm during shopping time without immediately to up!owh owh!! InsyaAllah with my new gadget hopefully I can overcome all those negative bottles that I have now!!InsyaAllah. But yet, ensure to take sahur, and continuously pump during office hours, InsyaAllah susu boleh maintain. Good luck gals!!

Milk produced during this Ramadhan..

InsyaAllah to breastfeed till 2 years..Amin!

ps: tidur malam ku sudah lena...heheehe ;)

the sleeping bro..

During meeting this morning, I received emergency call from Mr Hubby. The nursery called telling lil Ryan not feeling well. Fever. Gosh!!Adryan so far tak pernah jatuh sakit lagik. Me so worried, packed all stuffs terus amik half day * tolak lagik 0.5!! Sampai nursery, amik Ryan terus bawak balik rumah. Plan nk terus ke DEMC, tgk badan dia takde lah panas sgt, so decided to monitor at home. So far, he's still ok. Alhamdulillah.

Mase amik Ryan, Adam dah terkedek2 kuar amik shoes nak follow balik. Plan asal tak nk angkut dia balik, in case Ryan demam teruk. Kesian plak. Angkut skali! Balik rumah, hubby terus pergi office, ada meeting. Adam as usual play with the lappy. Bila dah makin ngantok, mintak itu ini. Mommy pun dah bertukar jadik monster! grrrrr!!! Tengah duk tgk tv, pusing sebelah, alahai dah tidur rupanye..Kesian betul...

Adam dah hampir seminggu langsung tak breastfeed. Before this, time nak tidur, layan jugak. Tapi fikir balik, dia makin manja. So nak tak nak kena stop!Nak tgu dia stop sendiri macam tak kut. Tadi time nak tido dia mintak lagik. When I say no, tu dia terus melalak!Semua tak kena. Alih2 terus tertidur...

the sleeping brother..

while watching mickey mouse clubhouse!

2 years and 9 months..
Adam now officially breastfeeding free!
InsyaAllah..

Kizsports & Gym The Empire..

Another delayed entry!
We went to The Empire Subang to celebrate Nuh Haziq's I year birthday. Tu pun after few days of his big day and Omma ada dtg melawat cucu-cucu dia..

The excited birthday boy with pressie from Abg Adam!
* mama Nuh yg super duper excited!!

After makan2 time, we straight away to our main destination, the big playland at Kizsport & Gym. Memang dah lama plan, nak bawak kanak2 riang ni main2 kat sini. Since Adam's 2nd birthday, with me yang tengah sarat that time, banyak kali terpaksa batal niat nak bawak Adam ke Kizsport. Since Kizsport kat OU tu dah berpindah ke The Empire Subang, lagi lajulah langkah kami nanti. Adam plak, memang suka sangat main kat playground. Nak tunggu mommy and papa dia balik keje bawak pergi playground, sorry ler, tak dapet!!
Tapi yang tak syok, Adam dah 2yrs, nak masuk kena bayar RM30. Alamak, sebulan skali takpe, jangan dimintak hari2, botak eh alamaknye!!

Kizsport & Gym The Empire, Subang..
* party room dia pun cantek!! ;)

The playland..

Baby changing room & breastfeeding room!

Time b'day Adam, budak kecik ni masih kecik, tak boleh nak enjoy playing kat playland. Sekarang ni..tengok! Tapi as usual, muka Nuh maintain serius!

Climbing time!

Ah ni geng2 tua tak sedar diri time kecik tak puas nak main kat taman..Tapi finally mommy Adam berjaya turun slide besar tu..nak patah pinggang eh duk terbongkok2!!

Sliding time..
* again mama Nuh yg super excited!

Playing in the big pool!!

Yeap, Adam mmg sangat2 happy. Susahnye nak pujuk kuar dari playland tu. Berkejar2 with my hubby. Seriously, kalau u all nak buat senaman, pergi je tempat ni, kejar anak2 nanti mahu boleh turun 1-2 kg, penat hooo!! Plan nak enroll Adam masuk prog kat Kizsport ni, plus activity, masuk playland pun free. nanti everyweek ada reason mommy nak g Empire..yeha!!!Lepas raya nanti pergi try prog tu and consider balik.
* Miszy Anne, nanti nak email2 tanya pasal Kizsport prog ni taw ! ;)

Overall, ikutkan tempat ni macam lagik best kalau nak compare dari OU. Selain dr tempat dia senang nak pergi, sb dekat to my apartment, playland pun nmpk lagi comfortable. Kalau kat OU dulu mcam gelap je, sini lagi cerah. Sempat chitchat with management at Kizsport, tho they claimed the area a lil bit smaller, with no cafe as before, but they preffered Empire compared to OU. So guys, looking for the place to hang out with family on weekend??Kizsport is the right place!YESSS!!!

The happy big bro!

ps : kalau nak buat gathering pun best tau kt tempat ni, lepas aje anak2 kat playland, mommies can chitchat kat tepi playland tu..;)

SURVIVAL TIPS FOR PARENTS!

I have blogwalked farah hanan's blog and found good tips about parenting. Handling 2 kiddos- the active toddler and growing up baby, banyak ilmu perlu ditimba. Sebagai ingatan takut sering terlupa. Lets read together..;)

****************************************************************

Parenting tips from one of the top gynaecologist in M'sia Dr Harlina Halizah Siraj, Consultant O&G in UKM Medical Centre and Head of Personal Professional Development Unit, Medical Education Department, UKM Medical Faculty.

SURVIVAL TIPS FOR PARENTS :

Tip no.1 :
Strive to be the best role model to your children. Make them proud of you first  before you can expect them to make you proud. How about asking this  question to your adolescent kids today : ` Have I ever made you proud,  son/daughter?' Reflect on the answer, if you're gonna get one.
* InsyaAllah, will try the best as we can!

Tip no.2 :
Display your commitment, affection and  love for each other (as parents & couple) for your children to see.  Put on your best smiles the moment you step into the house, no matter  how bad things are at work. Make your home as the sanctuary & heaven on earth for the kids. Keep it warm & cozy with your prayers and  unconditional love for everyone.
* balik keje, singgah speedmart beli Adam choc ;)

Tip no. 3 :
Avoid degrading or talking badabout your spouse in front of the children. Remember, it is their father/mother you're  complaining about. Don't try to win them over & make them go against your spouse. That's not win-lose, in fact, it is definitely a  lose-lose!
* nak gaduh masuk bilik yer!!

Tip no. 4 :
Appreciate every single deed and help you received from your children.  Thank them, praise them - loud and clear for everybody to hear. Put on  your best smile while thanking them. You have just made up their day.
* thank u Adam...Adam will reply "Adam good boy"..angkat bakul sendiri!!

Tip no. 5 :
Practice what you preach. But don't preach every time you talk to the children. It might sound like a good  sermon to you, but to them, it is simply a nag! Don't ever begin your  sentence with ` When I was your age,..'. If you do, just watch their  eyes rolling up & their ears turning deaf.
*mommy turned to monster ;(

Tip no. 6 :
Provide spiritual guide to your children - they need the framework & structure. Never neglect spirituality in  everything you do. Pray together as much as you could. Read the Quran  and reflect on its meaning. Convince them, spiritual health is as  important (if not more) as physical, mental & emotional health.
*InsyaAllah!!

Tip no. 7 :
Apologize for your mistakes and shortcomings, tho' sorry is the hardest word, esp. for parents. We can  be wrong too. The children need to be reminded that they're being raised by HUMAN BEINGS, not angels. Try hard not to repeat the mistakes. This  might be the most difficult tip to practise!

Tip no. 8 :

Allow some space for your adolescents to  make decisions and guide them from there. Trust them. Who else will if  not you, the parent who raised them up! Don't doubt your parenting.  Avoid suffocating them with your over-protectiveness. Let them learn  from their mistakes.

Tip no 9: Introduce your children to your friends/colleagues. Exhibit how much  you appreciate them & proud to be associated with them. Only then  you could expect your kids to introduced their friends to you!

Tip no. 10:
Learn about your children's love  languages. Each has a different, dominant type, tho' they might come  from the same womb. Manage the diversity. Adapt the best parenting  method for each of them. Get feedback - that's the only way to improve.

Tip no. 11 :
Thank Allah everyday for selecting you,of all the parents in the world, to be THE parent to these beautiful  children. Feel honoured by the privileges of being a parent. Enjoy your  parenthood - despite the hardship, pain, worries and sleepless nights  (not mentioning the big bucks). Cherish your role - show how much you  love being a parent!
* Alhamdulillah, I'm blessed!!

Tip no.12 :
Treasure your own parents, and let the children realize how much  you love them. Visit their graves (if they are no longer alive) &  tell the children amazing stories about their deceased grandparents. If  they're still alive, allow the children to spend their holidays  together. Allow grandparents to occupy a special place in the children's hearts & live
* Omma, okki, nenek and late tata!

Tip no.13 :
Involve the children in making plans for the family - renovating the house, buying a new car, selecting gifts etc. Best time to teach  them about family value & traditions. Let them suggest, however  indicate who's the boss. Be fair, sporting and reasonable - this is when the children learn the rules of the game.

Tip no. 14 :
Instill love for books & knowledge into  your children's lives. Hang around in bookshops & never miss the  annual book fair. Being digital natives, introduce them to e-books,  digital readers & tablets. Read together as a family. You're  enriching them with a legacy.
*woooiii, kalau pergi mothercare SP, lalu MPH sure kena masuk, paling min RM10 mesti hilang. Adam is a book and computer geek!!

Tip no. 15 :
Be fair in showing off your affection to each of your  children. Deal with sibling rivalry - do not just ignore it. Make time  to understand the dynamics, address the dissatisfaction, attend to each  complaint. Put yourself in their shoes - they always see things  differently!

Tip no. 16 :
Learn to say NO to your children, esp. on matters of principles. Do not  compromise your values to accommodate their demands. Provide guidance,  framework & structure. They need those to lead a successful &  meaningful future.
* yup, try to teach about discipline from early kids.

Tip no. 17 :
Avoid calling your children `problematic' - esp when you can't handle them. Let's rephrase - they are children with `difficulties' -  varying degrees, of course. Some quite trivial, some really massive!  They need your help & assistance. Do not give up or abandon them  now!

Tip no. 18 :
Support each other in your parenting process. Display solidarity, restrain from  open contradiction on parenting styles. Kids tend to be manipulative if  they know you both have disagreement. Single parents, engage others  (family, close friends) to support you. You shouldn't shoulder these  duties alone!

Tip no. 19 :
Instill sense of belonging among your children. Train the young ones to respect the elder siblings, vice versa. Keep them closely knitted.Treat  them equally, avoid favoritism. Express unconditional love. Everyone  matters & has a special, dedicated place in everybody's heart.

Tip no. 20 :
Befriend your adolescent kids - if  possible be their best friend . Avoid being their worst enemy. No doubt  parenting adolescents can be most challenging, but they're also facing  the most difficult phase of their lives. Friends are not judgmental,  loyal and keep secrets well, while enemies despise & couldn't stand  one another.Which one is you?

Tip no. 21:
Respond appropriately when others complained about your  children's misbehavior/misconduct. Do not take it personally. Do not  stage war or threaten to take legal action against the complainant  before investigating thoroughly. It takes the whole world (not just a  village) to raise a child these days.
* agreed!!

Tip no. 22 :
Make time to read the Quran together with your children, especially the adolescents. Ponder on the translation. Help  each other to memorize some parts of the Quran. Each child should have  his/her own Quran (+ translation) hardcopy, besides a mobile phone @  laptop!
* try as much to be better muslimah!!

Tip no. 23 :
Raise your boys to be caring, thoughtful and responsible men. Never humiliate them in front of others, esp the siblings. Be a good listener and  mind-reader. Listen to his silence. Read his body languages. Your  teenage boy is sending out a message : SOS, help me survive this rapids  of adolescence! Anybody listening out there?

Tip no. 24 :
Engage in intellectual discussion with  your spouse - on issues of environment, politics,socio-economics.  Include the children in the discourse, get their opinions. Avoid  gossiping about the neighbours/artists/politicians. Stop quarelling over petty matters. Enlighten your home with rays of wisdom and virtues.

Tip no. 25:
Play with your toddlers ( below five years) - that was what Saidina Ali ra proposed. Dads, carry them over  your shoulders - give them the chance to see the world from where you  stand. Rasulullah SAW did that to his grandsons. The child psychologists agreed that is the best way to carry your toddler!

Tip no. 26 :
Pay attention to your adolescent girl.  She really wanna know whether she inherits your beauty, Mum! She  desperately needs to know whether you think she's pretty and  presentable, Dad! Assure her that in your eyes - she is the most  beautiful and charming. She needs that affirmation to face the world of  fake beauty outside!

Tip no.27 :
Discipline your children (esp those between 7-12 years of age) with love. Sound familiar,eh? How can that be possible? If you really  love them, train your children with discipline, self-restraint and  strong will. Instill consistency and high standard of self-management.  Unfortunately, it all has to start with you first!

Tip no. 28 :
Watch your children sleeping. See how  innocent and peaceful they are! Thank Allah for trusting you to look  after His beautiful, tender creatures. Promise Allah that you will  seriously take good care of them. Keep to your promise - never ever  forget that!
* the most wonderful moment!!

Tip no. 29:
Listen to your children. I really mean it. LISTEN to their stories, laugh at their jokes and answer their questions. Give your  undivided attention if they need you to listen to their worries,  complaints etc. Look into their eyes. Once they're assured that you care enough for them, they are ready to face ANY challenges out there!

Tip no. 30:
Groom your children with good manners - train them to say`Please', `Thank you', `Excuse me' etc. Teach them the right body language, facial expression and voice intonation that goes  along with those pleasant words. Explain what rudeness means, make them  aware of social norms & cultural values surrounding them surrounding them.
*"mommy adam nk mlik plizzzzz..."- sambil tangan mcm pussy cat in boot!;)
