Cleaning Breastpump Parts On The Go
Pumping moms are always on the move. They’re scheduling pumping sessions in between meetings, play dates, errands and more. When you’re moving that quickly, there’s no guarantee you’ll be near a dishwasher or sink when it’s time to clean your pump parts. That’s why we have tips and products specifically designed to make cleaning breastpump parts easy on the go. We’ll walk you through cleaning instructions for each situation, so you’ll always be prepared.
Cleaning in the Dishwasher
Most of your Medela breastpump parts are safe for cleaning in the top rack of the dishwasher. So, if you have access to a dishwasher, this is a very simple option for cleaning your breastpump parts. The only parts that we DO NOT recommend cleaning in the dishwasher are SoftFit breastshields, the breastpump piston/cylinder pieces, rubber, SNS parts, or foam inserts. It isn’t necessary to clean tubing after each use. And remember, all Medela parts that come into contact with breastmilk are BPA-free.
Cleaning in the Sink
If you have access to soap and water, you’ll be able to easily and thoroughly clean your pump parts. Make sure all parts dry completely before storing – do not store parts if they are damp. If you don’t have time to let your parts dry completely, just make sure you let them dry thoroughly as soon as you return home
On-the-Go
In addition to washing, you can sanitize your pump parts by using Quick Clean Micro-Steam bags. Our Quick Clean Micro-Steam bags just require water and a microwave; and they thoroughly disinfect in just 3 minutes. Once your pump parts are sanitized, the bags also function as a way to carry your pump parts home (make sure parts are dry before storing).
No microwave, no water? No problem. You can use our Quick Clean Breastpump & Accessory wipes in between pumping sessions and then clean once you get home. They allow you to quickly wipe down your pump parts while you’re travelling, working or just away from home. You may also find them handy for cleaning high chairs, tabletops, changing tables and toys while you’re out and about. Diaper bag must-have? We think so.
